The University of Adelaide has a rich history of club and society activity, with the formation of the first non-sporting clubs in 1876. A Clubs Committee was formed very shortly after, maintained until the 1950s by the University of Adelaide, and subsequently by the original SRC. The Clubs Association was formed in 1971 when the committee formerly separated from and independently incorporated.
The Clubs Association is a representative body of its affiliate clubs, with those clubs sending delegates to the Clubs Association Council, from which the Clubs Association Executive is elected yearly to oversee the day to day running of the organisation.
The chief purpose of the Clubs Association is to foster social, cultural and intellectual activities of its members. This is achieved by providing financial and administrative support to clubs as well as providing services for clubs at the University of Adelaide.
The incoming 2016 Executive will take office on the 1st December 2015, and their term will run until 30th November 2016. Congratulations to all those who were elected to serve clubs this year.
